I used to never take my laptop, I would just take my journal and use it, but I found that I would never insert what I'd written there into the actual manuscript, they wound up being more a) experiments or b) writing exercises instead, plus I couldn't go back and look at other parts of the manuscript. But I may have to go back to that if something like this keeps up.
